Oncidium varicosum Select cultivar of this species, whose genus name is now
Gomesa. Branching clusters, with bright yellow 1.5-inch flowers on a tall spike. Unusually attractive foliage for an
Oncidium, so it is a good plant to grow into a specimen. This species is a parent in more than 100 registered hybrids, including Gold Tower and Palmyre. In its natural habitat, from just below the Amazon Basin of Brazil, south into Paraguay and northern Argentina, this species grows both epiphytically and lithophytically.
