Cattleya Callistoglossa var. coerulea
Cattleya Callistoglossa var. coerulea
Lovely five inch flowers reflect the parentage of this primary hybrid, which is warscewiczii x purpurata. This grex was registered in 1882 by Veitch, although the original cross was made by Seden. This offered plant, bred much later, was made with the coerulea parents, resulting in tinted blue petals and a lip broadly marked with slate blue. Plant height, when in bloom is under 24 inches. The purpurata parent instilled good tolerance of cold and wet. Other than a few small brown spots on the leaves, our hanging-pot mother plant came through the cold wet Winters of 2023 and 2024 very well compared with most other Cattleya hybrid species and hybrids. Temperature Tolerant. August - September blooming.

Oncidium flexuosum
Oncidium flexuosum
This South American species is an enduring favorite of ours, due to its clouds of bright yellow flowers, tolerance of cold seasonal temperatures ( at our nursery it went down to 26 degrees F for 2 hours - without any problems!), and its ease and willingness to bloom. To accommodate its climbing nature, many customers mount them on cork slabs or tie them into slatted wooden baskets.

Paphiopedilum charlesworthii
Paphiopedilum charlesworthii
This beautiful species puts on such a lovely show, and with such delicacy and elegance, it is considered one of the real stars of its entire genus! Perhaps its most striking feature is its big, round, dusky-pink dorsal sepal that stands poised above the fawn brown petals and pouch that has white and rosy-pink accents. A robust stem holds the flower aloft above its lush foliage. . Intermediate growing. September-October blooming.

Stenoglottis Bill Fogarty
Stenoglottis Bill Fogarty
Enchanting miniature! An intriguing primary hybrid of two African species, Stenoglottis fimbriata and Stenoglottis woodii. The profuse, petite flowers bloom plume-like on upright stems and are pale pink with tiny magenta spots, blooming sequentially (mature buds towards the base open earlier than upper buds).

Deciduous! Like its parents, this hybrid is a deciduous perennial, seasonally losing all its leaves while the subterranean bulbs rest before the next growth season. This means that for a brief time their pots appear bare, but soon the past leaves are replaced by new rosettes of foliage. So, don't throw this out when all the leaves fall off - it's not dead, it's just resting!
