Nearly five years ago, when this cultivar was just a small first-bloom seedling, when the first bud opened we saw its beautiful raspberry hue, so we set it aside for later evaluation. Over the years, the color continued to impress, but it was only this summer when the mother plant sent out two stunning full flower heads: then we realized that it is a garden superstar! On our mother plant, the height of the cane plus initial spike is 3 feet tall from the top of the pot to the fist opening bud. The natural spread of the flowers vary with plant size - we have measured 2.5 cm on rooted keikis, but 3.0 cm on our mother plant. These plants have been grown in our main unheated glasshouse, so their foliage is beautiful and will need careful acclimatization to garden conditions.
